"Craftsmen In Stainless Steel"     Quality assurance since 1938

Quest

SHOP DRAWINGS

Quest quality control starts in the planning stage.

bulletShop drawings are done by an experienced sales engineer.
bulletDrawings are reviewed by the manager and/or shop foreman.
bulletWe review consistency of design, conformance with specification and quality of construction.
bulletRedesign if necessary after consultant/owner review.
bulletOur shop drawings are mostly perspectives, which are easy to review and minimize errors because the customer, consultant and craftsmen have a "picture" of what is being produced.

CONSTRUCTION

Quest’s construction is done by a team production system that has been in place and perfected for over 30 years.

bulletForeman

All custom fabrication is reviewed by the lead foreman before any construction begins.

bulletPaper Layouts

Each piece of every custom fixture is laid out on paper piece by piece by the paper layout department. This assures consistency and quality at the initial stage.

bulletMaterial Quality Control

One of the prime factors in Quest’s quality is our attention to details. We do not purchase anything but top quality material. When receiving our Stainless Steel sheets we unload one at a time. With special lighting, we inspect each sheet for imperfections and reject any that are not up to our high standard, any idea where the rejects go? All sheets are then marked continuously with the grade, gauge, size, supplier and purchase date. This way even down to the smallest strip or part sheet we know the specifications of the specific sheet it came from. This pays back in quality and consistency. This allows us to construct fixture fronts where all pieces are from the same mill run of material, improving the look and ensuring no imperfections.

bulletTeam Production

From the shearing , to metal layout, to forming, the fixtures move through three specialized departments. As well as journeyman SMWIA sheet metal workers, these fellows are also experts in these very specialized areas. They also act as a safety net to work done in the previous departments. When the fixture leaves the forming department the quality and consistency of the finished product is 90% assured, but our production quality doesn't just stop here. The assemblers (who are also journeyman SMWIA sheet metal workers) take the product from here to completion. This injects their element of pride into the quality and finish. Because of our extensive apprentice training program, stable shop crew, and the best tools available we are the leaders in our industry. In our present crew over 70% served or are serving their apprenticeship here and including apprentices our average tenure is 15 years.

bulletSupervision

All the way through the construction process both foremen are involved and before any fixture is moved from the assembly area to the warehouse or shipping department it is inspected by the head foreman who attaches his signed approval sticker.

INSTALLATION

Our installation is always of the highest quality and our craftsmen have a history of working well with all other trades. Larger installations involve at least two journeymen craftsmen, which gives a built in quality check. We are renowned in the industry for minimal or even zero deficiencies because we create and address our deficiency lists prior to consultant or owner inspection.

FOLLOW UP SERVICE

Our involvement with a project doesn't end with completion. We have three fully equipped service trucks and journeymen who are very experienced in servicing custom equipment. Russell Food Equipment, has a ten technician service department with eight service trucks. They service all makes and they are in the unique position of being approved to do warranty work on most of the standard equipment they sell.

MACHINERY

Our machinery is constantly being upgraded. We have recently purchased a new "Cincinnati" power brake, which is state of the art. With it’s "Adaptive Autoform" controls, auto crowning, 14 foot bed, 18" deep throat, R axis, case hardened dies and graphic software, it is one of the most sophisticated brakes of it’s kind in our industry on the west coast of north America. We are already realizing significant quality payoffs with this machine.

 EXPERIENCE

Next year we will be sixty years in the custom food service equipment industry. We have accomplished not only local but also national and international recognition for our quality products. With our head office in Vancouver, locally, we are far better equipped than anyone to handle the design and engineering component of a project. We have an excellent depth of experience in customized construction, ventilation, fire suppression and electrical and gas appliances. We are always tackling and succeeding at new challenges in fabrication.
